Maytag washer repair in Chino & Chino Hills Ca. with Apco Appliance and Air. (Instaling new pump)This washer stopped draining and spinning. When Dave the tech arrived he turned it on in spin and heard the motor humming and  trying to start. He tipped it up to look underneath and was able to see that the pump bushing/sleeve bearing had ridden up on the pump shaft which was locking up the pump pulley from turning. This machine clearly needed a new pump. We stock these pumps because it seems to be a very common problem that occurs with these Maytag top load washers. To remove the pump you have to access and remove the panel in the left lower coroner of the back of the machine. Tilt the unit against the wall using a towel so the machine does not scratch the wall. Remove the single large belt underneath and the two hoses from the pump threw the access panel in the back. Then remove the three 3/8 screws holding the pump in place. Take care because the unit may have water inside still and if it does there will be a flow of water coming out when you remove the pump hoses. Have some towels and a wet/dry vac ready. Good luck and here are a few pics.
