Dave proceeded to go in to the attic space and opened the furnace panels where he discover a blown 3 amp fuse on the control circuit board. He changed the fuse and the furnace came on perfectly. But once he set the thermostat to the cooling setting the fuse blew once again. The fuse is a component of the 24 volt system. It turned out that the condenser out side had a defective 24 volt contactor which Dave then changed along with the fuse again. The unit is backup and operating with a happy customer.
