What ever happened to the lonely Maytag guy? Washer repair in Ontario Ca. with Apco Appliance and Air. This Maytag washer stoped spinning and draining for the customer. They told the tech that the machine first started making a loud noise off and on. Then it stoped for a day but they tried it again and it started. But for only 1 load and that was it. On Maytag top load machines the pump only lasts between 5-8 years. What happens is the sleeve bearing rides up on pulley shaft until it hits the pump housing. When it reaches the housing of the pump it makes a loud metal to metal noise before it locks up. After it locks up the unit no longer spins or drains. Here are some pics.....
