Apco Appliance and Air is working on a Whirlpool dryer repair service call out of Chino Hills Ca. This Whirlpool FRONT LOAD dryer is not heating and is taking a long time to dry clothes. The customer was smelling gas when the unit was running. The technician Dave, removed the lower panel to see the burner chamber to witnessed if the the ignitor was coming on or clicking off without the gas valve opening. If the ignitor was to glow, then kick off with no ignition of gas, that would indicate that the gas valve coils are bad and not opening the gas valve in time. This unit did just that, which is a sign of faulty gas valve coils. This will give gas leakage, and a lack of heat, which then makes the machine not dry on time.
