Apco Appliance and Air in Corona ca. / East Vale ca. repairing GE oven that won't heat. Tech. Dave arrived at customers and turn thermostat on but the oven ignitor did not glow. He then removed oven cover exposing burner and ignitor. He turned oven on and then checked for 110 volts at the oven ignitor. Voltage was there, so if the ignitor was good it should have turned on and heated up. But it did not which means ignitor was bad. This is very common to happen to gas ovens after 4-6 years of age. I am also agree with you. I have 5 years old Whirlpool oven and it has also the same problem 6 months age. The oven was not igniting properly then I cleaned the oven and change the ignitor. Now it is fine. Some oven range appliance parts are damaged due to not properly use. Dirt, foods are damage the oven, range. I think these should properly maintain one in a year.
