Maytag washer repair in Chino Hills Ca. with a unit that will not agitate or spin. Appliance repair done by Apco Appliance and Air, on the web at http://www.apcoplus.com. When we arrived, this washer made by Maytag, would fill with water and then just sit without agitating. The tech Dave pulled to the right and then to the left with the timer knob and it started for a second. So he figured that the contacts in the timer were not making to send power down to the motor. He took the control panel down and grabed the wires to the connecting harness attached to the timer and bang! It started. The timer has a cam with high and low groves on it, that ingages a set of contacts, that send power to different mechanical parts. The timer sends power at set times as it turns the cam once you start it. After years of wiping the timer knob around, which is attached to the cam directly, the contacts become out of place. This can also happen just from age, given that most the voltage and amp runs threw those contacts. Long story short...... Customer needed a new timer. Here are a few pics. Always unplug the machine before you work on it.
